Psychiatric Evaluation

The initial appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric interview and the first step in the treatment process. Your provider will gain a full social, emotional, educational, medical and family history, in order to formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan. 

When appropriate, your clinician will consult with your other medial providers, family members and school personnel to be as comprehensive as possible.

Medicine Management

Medication is often a necessary part of the treatment plan, and will sometimes be recommended in conjunction with other therapies. Your provider will work with you to determine the best options for you, and discuss risks and benefits of medications. When taking medication for mental health issues, it is important to be followed regularly by a psychopharmacologist. Often medications need to be adjusted in order to find the best regime.

Medicine Consultation

Often patients are prescribed psychiatric medications by their general practitioners, or other healthcare providers.

While medical doctors are trained to recognize mental illness, they do not have updated specialized education and expertise as do psychiatrists, to most correctly diagnose and treat mental illnesses.
